Jennifer has been writing stories for over twenty years, inspired by the feats of gritty resolve and melancholies of isolation that she witnessed in her career as a rural social worker. A long-time resident of regional communities in Victoria and South Australia, as well as an academic, border collie enthusiast, one-time silversmith and prize-winning biscuit baker, Jennifer now pursues semi-retirement in the central Victorian township of Castlemaine.
Always curious and slightly puzzled by how we come to be as we are, Jennifer uses her storytelling to build connections, find meaning and challenge those comfortable assumptions that so often need a little reality checking. In developing this collection of stories, she wanted to return to the time when stories were illustrated, not just for children, but for adults too. The collaboration with Lorena Carrington has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her writing career.
